Developing healthy habits & Staying motivated 💪🏼

Who always has a resolution for the start of the year ? I started off 2020 wanting to lose some weight & keep it off. I wanted to get more fit & develop more healthier habits. I have suffered from anxiety for years since prior to giving birth to my first son who is almost 16. I have come to realize how much working out helps anxiety, before I thought it would make it worse but it does the opposite. If you have anxiety I highly recommend doing some type of exercise daily if you can at least 30 minutes.

I have never been the type to have horrible habits but I do love my sweets & I have hypothyroidism which affects weight loss, so in other words my body moves like a snail when losing weight. Last year (2019) I really wasn’t taking care of myself or working out. I only have a few before pictures to share, but you can definitely notice a difference.

Honestly I am not big on diets & trends or weight loss teas, but do what is best for you and your body and what you feel comfortable doing. I just know in the long run what works for me and my type of personality. I wanted to make realistic changes and add working out to my weekly activities. I wont lie when lock down started during March of this year I started working out almost every day even on the weekends since I had time. I had my full time job where thank God I was able to work from home since our schools shut down but I also did online schooling for my kids and I pushed to throw in a work out for myself. I started out walking at least 45 minutes a day , then I found this amazing waist trimmer belt on amazon which is made of material that causes you to sweat. I started wearing it at every work out , this one is similar to mine Amazon.com: Waist Trimmer for Men and Women for Workout and Sweat ABS: Clothing It has helped so much!

After a few weeks I started jogging and walking about an hour or more (3 miles) & I started finding these amazing you tube videos for kickboxing and I started to really enjoy doing those at home on the days I didn’t go on my jogs. I noticed that after a while my body was getting stronger and I was able to push a little more each time. I also drank more water & started making different types of salads ( I always have loved salads!) in order to not get bored with just one. The dressing I used was just either fresh squeezed lime or lemon nothing else. You can add olive oil if you want to mix it with the lemon juice as well up to you. I added pictures of some of my fave salads and what I put in them, and a delicious snack that I would make as well.

I still have my desserts ( ice cream). I for sure am not a perfect eater or a health nut ! I just thought it would be nice to share my journey and what I did. I am more aware of what I eat now and I’ve been staying consistent which is a plus. I think if your consistent you can accomplish a lot 😀 So now I try to do at least 3 miles 3 times a week if I can and with the time change if it gets too dark I’ll just do my you tube videos at home , I do add in Ab workouts since that is my problem area and I have seen improvements.

These were all taken this year so I do notice changes, but I still have work to do. I wont be getting discouraged! 😉 If you have any tips, recipes or advice that has helped with developing healthy habits please share below.
